Software built around the work

At GiantByte, our Edmonton software development case studies showcase real projects across manufacturing, logistics, retail, and the arts — each involving unique technical challenges that generic platforms were never designed to handle.

Every case study includes a linked technical white paper for readers who want to understand the architecture, technology choices, and engineering decisions behind each build.

Custom quoting software for preparing customer estimates.

Challenge

Arris Stone spent up to a week manually creating quotes — combining spreadsheets, hand-drawn sketches, and back-and-forth emails. By the time a quote reached the customer, the lead was often cold.

Solution

Built with Django and React, its custom drawing engine calculates geometry, supports smooth drawing and angle changes, and applies fabrication rules. Features added to the drawing feed into the quote. Once the drawing and pricing data are in place, the price is available immediately.

Result

A process that could involve a week of waiting becomes a calculation that can happen during the customer conversation.

Klarity Car Wash — Emergency POS Replacement

Management dashboard displaying graphs and reports.

Challenge

When Klarity’s software provider was ending service, alternative providers proposed a $300,000 replacement of the hardware and software. None said they could work with the existing hardware.

Solution

GiantByte built a replacement that worked with the existing equipment. The system serves 17 terminals through two applications. Fifteen unattended-wash bays and one automatic-wash bay use the wash application with different functionality; a separate application runs the employee POS kiosk.

Result

Over $100,000 in potential losses avoided. Klarity now runs on a custom POS with no ongoing software licensing fees.

Kris Friesen Art — Immersive Digital Gallery

Online gallery showcasing multiple artworks together.

Challenge

Our Edmonton software development case studies also cover the arts. Muralist Kris Friesen needed a digital gallery for hundreds of galleries of high-resolution images, with space to display the work while controlling how much content was served at once.

Solution

GiantByte built a custom high-performance media rendering engine with gallery-first web architecture. The platform serves images as the user navigates — even on mobile devices — while maintaining the visual fidelity critical for an artist’s portfolio.

Result

A world-class digital gallery that matches the scale and quality of Kris’s physical work.
